My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ava, the charming 6-month-old petite hound mix with a playful spirit! With her big, expressive eyes and floppy ears, she’s all about spreading joy. We got Ava form Pitt County Animal Shelter, where she came in with another dog. The other dog has since found it`s forever home, and Ava is wondering when she will find hers! Ava’s great in her crate, making her perfect for busy households, and she’s working on her potty training like a champ. Ava is still getting the hang of the leash, but is doing fantastic and is eager to please.

At the shelter, she thrives on interacting with people and brings a smile to everyone she meets. Ava is looking for a loving home where she can share her playful energy and make every day an adventure!
Our adoption fee for dogs is $200.00. This fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip, dewormer, and consistent heartworm and flea prevention before leaving the facility.

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website hsecarolina.org where you will find our adoption application. Please fill it out and submit, and once your application is reviewed, someone will reach out to you to set up an appointment.

More about this rescue

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina's mission is to serve as a safe haven for homeless and neglected pets and act as a resource to the community. By educating the public about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can work towards the elimination of over breeding of dogs and cats and teach owners to be responsible pet owners. At the same time, we hope to facilitate adoption of pets to good homes so that we can allow more unwanted animals to find a temporary home with us.
