Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lilo is a gorgeous 11 months old girl who appears to be a pure French Bulldog. Her fur is a beautiful sable or dark gray commonly referred to as blue. She is still slightly over weight at about 31 pounds. She is a big girl.
She is very affectionate and wants to be with her people at all times. She thinks she is a lap dog and wants to snore in a lap whenever possible. Remember she is 31 lbs :) She sleeps at my feet while I sew and wants to stay in close contact most of the time. She gets along well with the adults in the home and younger children but needs to be in a home with children over 15 yours old as she is a big girl and jumps. There were cats in her previous home, but it was reported that she may not be good with them. She has been to the dog park where we discovered she will play fetch with a tennis ball. She was not fond of a very forward 4 month old puppy and let him know it. She handled the unwanted attention like a champ firm but without aggression.
Lilo is crate trained and mostly house broken, but needs some further training to get to the point where she will "ask" to go outside when she needs to. She is a young typical frenchie dog who is learning "off" and is catching on to the fact that jumping on people is not acceptable. She walks ok on a leash, but could use a bit more training. She is strong willed, but eager to please with so much potential to be an amazing girl. She will need a person/family who time and patience to provide her with more training so she can reach her potential and be the amazing funny girl she is meant to be.. Someone with previous bull dog, or a similar breed, would be ideal.
She came to us as an owner surrender that was taken in by a cat rescue partner. The family who surrendered her reported that she was "definitely not pregnant." When she arrived it was obvious that she was very pregnant. A same day vet visit confirmed she was carrying a single puppy. A c-section was preformed the next day. Unfortunately her puppy did not survive. I'm aware the this breed is very popular, but they really should not exist as they are today. 90% require dangerous and very expensive c-sections because of their large heads and narrow hips. They simply are not designed to give birth naturally. Their flat faces sometimes lead to breathing issues. Lilo seems to breath fine and did well with anesthesia, but snores loudly and is prone to lots or snorting as is normal for the breed. If you love Frenchies, this is your chance to welcome one into your home without supporting a breeder.
Lilo was spayed during her c-section and will never have to risk her life being pregnant again. If you would like to donate to help us pay her substantial vet bill please go to our web site where you will find a donate option. Thanks in advance!
If you think you are up for the commitment of training this great dog please submit an application for adoption (1luckydogrescue.org). Please note, if you don't receive a return call within a few days, assume Lilo has found her forever home.
