My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Buddy, an enthusiastic black Lab born in February 2022. Life threw me a challenge early on, and by 4 weeks old, I wasn’t walking. Thankfully, my incredible foster mom came into my life at 5.5 months and helped me begin my recovery journey. My back legs needed some extra support—my right leg had little muscle and wouldn’t bend, so I used to swing it around. But my left leg is a superstar, with plenty of muscle and movement!

I’ve been getting physical therapy, which includes lots of toe wiggling and fun games (I may have given my foster mom a few face licks—she says they’re ticklish!). Keeping my left leg moving is super important, and a professional therapist could be a great addition to my team. I can walk and hop pretty well when I take it slow, but when I get excited, I sometimes scoot around like a happy wiggle worm!

Since I’m still working on potty training, my foster mom has a clever trick: my tail sticks straight out when I need to go, giving her a few seconds to help me out. Most of the time, I’m just too busy having fun to realize I need a break! Slippery floors can be tricky unless I have good traction, and while I can manage stairs, I might need a hand going down (those rails can be a bit tricky!).

Here’s the best part: my spirit is unbreakable! I spread love to everyone, from kids and adults to playful pups (I haven’t met any cats yet). I do bark in my kennel for attention, food, bathroom breaks, or just because! So, a home without shared walls would be ideal. Car rides are a breeze as long as I’m safely tethered or crated, and I even come with a special "Help Em Up" harness for all our future adventures!

Are you ready to open your heart and home to a special needs pup with a heart of gold?
