Meet Pepito, an adorable "extra sm-edium" dog with a gentle spirit and a shy demeanor. Found as a stray, Pepito is still discovering the world around him and learning how to navigate it. Though we don't have a home history on him, his sweet nature shines through once he feels comfortable. Pepito is a bit timid at first, so he'll need a patient and dedicated adopter who can take things slow and help him gain confidence. He's still learning to walk on a leash, so his new family will need to be supportive and understanding as he builds up his skills.

Due to his shy nature, Pepito would do best in a calm home with older children who can understand his body language and give him the space he needs to feel safe. He may take some time to adjust, but with love and patience, Pepito will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. He's looking for a forever home where he can feel secure and grow at his own pace, becoming the cherished family member he deserves to be.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
