Luna is a 10-month-old beagle mix girl weighing 30 pounds. She is very energetic, playful, happy, and affectionate. Luna wants to be everybody's friend! She loves people and enjoys being the center of attention.
Luna is young and athletic. She is good with other dogs and enjoys running and playing with canine friends. She loves stuffed toys, balls, bones, sticks, and rocks (yes rocks). Luna is smart and is quickly learning her new foster home. She is learning basic commands like Down and Sit but can still be jumpy and mouthy like a puppy when excited. She has long legs and can run fast and can easily jump a 3-foot fence or gate.
While Luna enjoys plenty of activity, she also likes to relax and cuddle with her people. Luna is relatively quiet but is known to bark and howl when she gets excited or hears a strange sound.
An ideal home for Luna is one with an active family committed to ensuring she receives the attention, exercise, and playtime she needs and that she receives the love and affection that she deserves. She would also love a canine sibling and a fenced yard to run around. Luna would be a great companion on outings with her new family, hiking, long walks, running, and car rides. She's overall a well-rounded young girl.
NOTE: The dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

More about this rescue
Midwest Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare, Inc is a 501(c)3 non profit, all-volunteer organization located in the Midwest, funded by donations and dedicated to rescuing beagles from high-kill shelters. Our foster homes provide loving temporary care until we are able to find them well matched, carefully screened forever homes. By working with local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities we are able to give proper medical care to the beagles in our program. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. We adopt beagles to families within Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and have also placed beagles into loving homes in Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
