For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Meet Bodie! Bodie is a 5yr old border collie mix who was saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster County. Bodie was tied up with piece of twine outside of the puppy mill, waiting for us to come take him. The puppy mill used and abused Bodie until he was no longer useful to them and then tossed him away as soon as they possibly could.
Bodie is the dad of the "bird litter (French bulldog/border collie mixes) that we were given up to us as an "accidental litter a few months, so we were very excited to get to take him with us on this trip.
Bodie is very shy and shut down, but he is slowly starting to trust people. He absolutely loves other dogs and would do best in a home with another confident dog to show him the ropes!
As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis.
If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org
