My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you haven't had the chance to meet the amazing Miss May, let me take care of that for you.

This sweet, graceful, 4-year-old female is an attention loving sweetheart. Although she might take a few minutes to get comfortable with you, with a little bit of patience May is a calm darling that would love nothing more than to hang out and get all the loving you have to offer.

While May isn't big on active play, she loves getting brushed, and spending quality time hanging out and receiving lovins; cheek scratches are a favourite. Once May knows that you're her friend, she loves nothing more than to rub up and get attention, and will climb into your lap to make biscuits.

Like most of us, Miss May is a fan of her snacks; She hasn't quite mastered taking them from the hand, but will happily gobble up some tasty temptations off the floor.

If you are looking for a cat who wants to be where you are, and would enjoy a night in with a movie and snuggles, May might just be the cat for you.

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
