My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brothers Bert and Ernie, named after iconic characters from Sesame Street, are looking for their forever homes! They are great boys with contrasting, yet fun and complementing personalities. Bert is the more reserved, calmer, and quieter of the two. Warning: when he snuggles up in your lap, you might just fall in love!He might need time to warm up to you, but once he does, he's such a lover and wants to be around his human. Another one of Bert's favorite things is playing with his 95-pound foster brother. He's not intimidated by large dogs despite being so much smaller. Bert can take a hint if his foster brother doesn't want to play and will entertain himself by playing with toys or chewing on bones. After play time he finds comfort in snuggling up next to you on the couch. On the other hand, Bert's brother Ernie is full of energy, playful, and loves to explore the backyard. He often comes up with ideas like sneaking veggies off plants in the garden or trying to take a bath in their water bowl. Bert often tries to make sense of Ernies antics but is a little more reserved. Ernies carefree and spontaneous nature will keep you laughing and wondering what he'll do next! Bert is almost fully potty trained and very rarely has an accident in the house. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. Bert is working on leash training and basic manners. He can be timid in new environments or around loud noises but is working on socialization in his foster home. Bert will complete his vet care mid-October, and his adoption fee is $300. If you're interested in adopting Bert, please submit an adoption application and we'll be in touch ASAP! To ensure a smooth transition, we request a meeting with any approved applicant's current pets before commencing the 2-week adoption trial period. Additional adoption info

SBF adoptions start off with a 2-week trial period to ensure that the SBF dog is a good fit for your family and current pets. The adoption fee is due the day an adopter starts the 2-week trial period. If the adoption does not work out within those two weeks, the adopter will be refunded all but a $50 donation, or they can put the fee towards another adoptable dog.

More about this rescue

Saved by Fate is a dog rescue organization in Central Kentucky that specializes in pulling dogs at high risk of euthanasia from Kentucky shelters. SBF was founded by Mara DeLaus and Ciara Hagedorn in 2022. After years of volunteering for a fellow organization, they saw a significant need for additional rescue resources in their area. SBF is an entirely foster and volunteer based organization that does not have a physical location or kennel at this time.
