FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!
Meet Saxon (known as Smiley at the shelter): A resilient soul Looking for his forever Home. Saxon’s story started in heartbreak, but he’s ready for a new beginning. This approx. 8-year-old, 40-pound terrier mix was found as a stray, abandoned in a field with a rope tied around his neck. Facing euthanasia in a shelter, Saxon’s luck changed when a group of caring individuals stepped in and gave him a second chance. He will soon be ready for his next chapter once he completes his board and train at Diversity K9. Saxon has two benign masses on his tummy area, but they pose no health risks and don’t require removal. He’s been through a lot, but his spirit shines through in his love for walks—rolling in the grass is an absolute must before every stroll! Saxon is incredibly treat-motivated and loves to work, making him a great candidate for ongoing training. He is interested in squeaky toys but doesn't quite know how to play with them yet. We believe he is house trained as he has not gone potty in his kennel. While Saxon is weary of new people and needs time to warm up, he is clear in his communication. He is uncomfortable with a lot of handling initially and needs a patient home that’s willing to go slow with him, respecting his boundaries. Too much too soon can make him uncomfortable, but with the right handling, understanding and patience, he’s a loyal companion. Saxon requires ongoing training and will need training sessions with his new family before going to his forever home. Though he hasn’t lived with other dogs, he’s done well in testing but will need slow introductions to ensure success. Due to his specific needs, we’re looking for a home with no children under 18 and someone with behavior experience. His foster or adopter will meet with the trainer and they will be required to have multiple meet and greets prior to his going to a new home. He does not need a fenced yard, but he loves daily walks so those will be imperative for him. Saxon is a low-energy boy who would thrive as a walking buddy for someone who understands his journey and is ready to give him the love he deserves. If you’re willing to be patient and provide Saxon the stable, loving home he’s always dreamed of, he will reward you with endless loyalty and companionship.
