My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🤩 **Smokey is Ready to Steal the Show!** 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Meet **Smokey**, the one-year-old Great Dane who's not just a dog—he’s a legend in the making! With his sleek black and gray coat and paws that could fill a page, Smokey is all about big energy, big adventures, and big love. He’s in his prime playful phase, always on the lookout for new excitement. Just be warned—this gentle giant *loves* a good jailbreak! Weak fences? No match for his inner explorer. 🌍🐾

Smokey is looking for his second chance at a forever home, and he’s got plenty of love to give. He’s a natural protector, great with kids, and loyal to the core. Strangers, though? Especially men in hats? Let’s just say, Smokey likes to take things slow. Patience and proper introductions are key to winning over this sweet boy’s heart.

While he’d prefer to be your one and only fur-child, Smokey is potty trained and ready to learn more, especially when it comes to leash manners. If you’re ready to help him become the rockstar dog he’s destined to be, he’ll give you a lifetime of loyalty in return. 🎸🐕

Smokey is ready to meet his new family! Call us at **(775) 623-6403** to schedule your meet-and-greet today!

More about this shelter

We have a small, rural, government-run Animal Control facility dedicated solely to dogs. This entails accepting both owner surrenders and stray animals found on the streets. Our team consists of four dedicated individuals: two full-time Animal Control Officers, one part-time Kennel Tech, and one part-time Animal Care Assistant. We have limited office staff, and our presence in the office may be intermittent. For the most reliable communication, please reach out by phone. While we do not have a voicemail system, calls will be forwarded to our dispatch center where you can leave a message. Additionally, all transactions are by appointment only.
