My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gizmo! This Beagle – Bichon Frisé blend weighs 31 lbs and is 10 years old. Gizmo is one of the sweetest dogs his foster has ever met.

  • General Behavior: Gizmo is pretty chill and just loves to hang out with his person. So far he loves everyone he meets. He LOVES when you hold his paw! He enjoys cuddling on his person’s lap and just being petted. He has spurts of energy for a few minutes and so far has only grabbed a couple of toys and a squishy ball to play with. He will throw a soft toy or ball up in the air, try to catch it, and then run around for a bit.

  • Likes & Dislikes: Gizmo loves to sit outside, just watching anything that's going on. He is also a total foodie! He has eaten green beans, carrots, and strawberries.

  • Training:  Gizmo is a real gent! He is housetrained if let out regularly. He knows the command “sit." He walks well on a leash and loves to go for walks. He tolerates the car. He sleeps in a dog bed at night next to his foster’s bed. He likes to be close to his person.

  • Medical: Gizmo takes apoquel for allergies (about $80 for 30 tablets), but other than that, he is a healthy boy who just needs his monthly flea and heartworm medications.

  • Other Animals: Gizmo does well with other small dogs. He has a 8 lb foster brother and they get along great. His foster reckons that he likes having another pup around. He has not been observed around cats, but his foster thinks he’d be OK with them.

  • Children: Gizmo has not been observed extensively around children. However, he has a fan club in the kids who wait for the school bus and who come over to pet him.

  • Home: Gizmo does have the deep beagle bark. He doesn’t bark as long as he can get to his people, but given the power of his bark, he would do best be in a single family home.

  • Grooming: Gizmo will need regular brushing plus professional grooming about every 6-8 weeks. Luckily, he loves all the attention that comes with having his hair brushed!

  • Overall: The person who adopts Gizmo is getting an outstanding dog!

Is Gizmo the smart, snuggly, loving guy you’ve been looking for? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $250.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
