My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ACTIVE, FUN & READY FOR ADVENTURE:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 29 lbs.

Hi, my name is Clay!  I joined the Mostly Mutts family when they rescued me from animal control.  I’m keeping the volunteers on their toes with my energetic personality.  Always on the move and ready for adventure, I look forward to being active with my new family.  Let’s exercise together!  I got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program where I had a great time and learned a lot, too!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs in the prison/foster training program, and I was friendly with them. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / I haven’t met cats, but I do not think we should live together. /  I get excited about my toys and sometimes try to grab at them, so older teens (15+) may be best.  I have done well changing this behavior when my trainer tells me to ‘wait’, and I hold my ‘sit’.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m an active and enthusiastic guy who is playful and ready for fun.  If it’s playtime, I am all in and I see many things as toys, so I’ll toss them all around to play!  I was well-mannered for my bath, so it was a breeze. I’m a people dog who greets the volunteers with unbridled joy. / My energy level is a 10, so I am looking for an active family member to help me direct my energy with fun adventures.  I also really need a fenced-in yard in my new home to be successful given my energy level for some fun playtimes with you.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘place’, ‘leave it’ and ‘down’ commands. I also accept friendly strangers without jumping and utilize proper door etiquette.  My leash manners are good overall, but I sometimes want to jump up at people walking nearby.  My trainer can talk to you about this, as she has helped me curb this behavior.  I’ll also be working on my toy sharing manners, as I am obsessed with my toys (especially tennis balls).  My trainer is currently teaching me how to exchange my toys for a treat.  I am also doing well with the ‘wait’ command for this behavior.  Check back soon to see my progress. / I can be a bit jumpy getting out of my kennel, as I am super excited to be with the volunteers. I sometimes push the bottom tray of my crate out so I can play/chew it, so make sure it’s secure please. / My potty habits have been good on the prison/foster training program schedule.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and am enthusiastic when they come to spend time with me.  I also really love tennis balls, the XL red plastic ball in the MM play yard and squeaky toys.  In fact, I like anything I consider a toy a bit TOO much right now.  My trainer is working with me on my tendency to obsess over my toys.   I’m excited for mealtime, so the volunteers have me using a slow feeder, which is good for the digestion for fast eaters.  I would like a fenced-in yard in my new home, to help me work out some of the extra energy that I have with you.  / I can’t think of any other dislikes besides those mentioned above but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, EXERCISE, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a fun-loving family who is dedicated to spending the time with me necessary to meet my energy needs!   My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
