Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This gorgeous, grey faced senior is Tessa! Tessa is a redbone coonhound who is guessed to be about 9 years old and came to us from a rural shelter with more dogs than adopters. A true sweetheart, Tessa is happy to be wherever you are. She enjoys spending time with people, getting belly rubs and is always up for a ride in the car. Tessa is house trained but at her age, may need an extra potty break or two daily. Tessa is easy to walk on leash and easy to love!
Tessa has lived with other dogs in her foster home but does need to be fed separately and not given treats when other dogs are around. Like many of the hounds we rescue, sharing food just isn't one of their strenths. Often fed in large packs of hunting dogs, they have had to compete to survive. Tessa needs an adopter who understands that. Tessa can play with and walk with and live with other dogs as long as they are separated from her food.
A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Tessa, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs!
Augusta Dog Adoptions is an foster- based rescue and does not have a physical shetler for you to visit. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
