My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Soda Pop, now 5 weeks in foster care, continues to bloom and show his wonderful personality. He deserves his own forever home - he is going to make someone a loving companion!

Soda Pop is a very affectionate cat, who loves human interaction and contact, and so would love to join a home where someone can give him a lot of company throughout the day. He is talkative when his foster family enters the room, telling them about his day; he has the cutest chatter. He enjoys when his foster parents break out the bird wand toy because his hunting instincts are ignited – he has excellent play manners and is the cutest toy stalker.

Soda Pop is not a picky eater and loves freeze-dried chicken treats and Churu (who doesn’t!), but his foster parents have upgraded his wet and dry food to help soothe his tummy issues; it seems to be helping.

While Soda Pop is named after a character from “The Outsiders,” this handsome boy no longer cares to be outdoors. He is still tentative when near a window, but feels safer in enjoying watching outdoor happenings when his foster parents are near him assuring him that he is not alone or in any danger. Soda Pop hasn’t met his foster family’s two cats yet, so his behavior with other cats is unknown at this time.

Soda Pop is a real gem who just needs to be seen by someone who’s looking for an affectionate, loving, playful, and friendly boy who will offer him quality companionship and reassurance that he is safe and loved. Because Soda Pop is still sensitive to lots of activity and noise, and hides away when he feels uncertain, he does not attend adoption events. His foster parents are happy to have interested potential adopters come meet him, or reach out to them with any questions you might have about him.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit: https://fancycats.org/volunteer

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adopters fill out an application that screens for problems that may be detrimental to our cats and kittens. Once the adopter is approved we provide veterinary referrals which help with low cost spays or neuters for the kittens that are too young at the time of adoption. We are always available to help with behavioral issues that arise. We provide numerous information sheets in our adoption folders, plus the medical background of each cat. The only fees involved with our program are adoption fees that offset our veterinary bills.

More about this rescue

Fancy Cats Rescue Team was founded to provide the community a "safety net" for cats and kittens that are abused and abandoned, or added to the euthanasia list at the shelters that we are currently participating with. We are a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Organization and participate with the United Way/CFC #8929. The goal is to have no kill shelters in place. Education and responsible pet ownership are the foundation of our organization. Our program provides literature, counseling, referral services and educational resources to families and individuals needing guidance. Teaching people responsible pet guardianship by spay and neutering their pets, behavioral modification and health concerns. We also provide a mentoring environment for our youth volunteers where they can learn the rewards of community service while caring for animals that need their gentle, loving kindness. They also interact with the community providing self-confidence and the ability to interact with a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. Once an animal is received into our program, they remain with us until a safe, appropriate home is found. They are never euthanized based on their age or space limitations. They are given appropriate medical care, immunizations, spays or neuters and endless hours of tender, loving care. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are funded by community donations, 91% goes toward the care and well being of our animals. Our adoption fees help offset our veterinary bills.
