My name is Pinkie Pie!

Pinkie Pie is our super sweet Southern girl from Georgia! She arrived to us with her sister and they were both pretty timid and nervous about all the new things in life so would love to find a home with a current resident dog to help bring her out of her shell! Pinkie has made several friends and she definitely seeks out other dogs and looks to them for guidance when meeting new people or experiencing new things. She's figured out that Kongs filled with peanut butter are delicious and toys with squeakers are the best! Pinkie does well on the leash but still gets a little nervous with loud noises or cars but prefers to freeze or hide by your side until the scary noises go away and then she's good to keep going! She's very gentle in taking treats and just has an overall really mellow and friendly demeanor and would make a wonderful addition to your family!

Puppies require a significant amount of structure, routine, time, patience, and training to learn how to behave properly in a home. The first few months of having a puppy is a critical time to establish boundaries and help your puppy understand what they can expect from you and what you expect from them. Remember, puppies aren't born knowing how to live in a human's world, it is up to you to teach them how to make good decisions in a positive and caring manner. The more positive interactions they have in their first year of life will set them up for better behavior in the future.

Recently, a volunteer took Pinkie Pie out for a Doggy Day Out and here's what they had to say:
"Pinkie Pie joined me for a Sunday Funday with a few other pups from HAP and she did so well! She needed some help getting in and out of the car but once she was in, she relaxed and enjoyed the ride. When we made it and she saw her canine friends, she was quick to go right to the other dogs and for most of the day was happy to just go with the flow and hang out with her dog friends. A few times she was brave and ventured out on her own and it was great to see her confidence grow! She even had a few bursts of puppy energy where she had some zoomies and loved walking through the high grass and searching for sticks! Pinkie was still a little nervous with the cars and motorcycles on the nearby road but did a lot better about not trying to run away or hide when she got scared and she was able to get right back to playing or walking instead of needing a few minutes to recover. She did so well and can't wait to see her confidence continue to grow!"

If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
