My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Dora, an American Staffordshire/American Pit Bull Terrier mix picked up by one of our officers on 9/27 as a stray and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Dora weighs 49 pounds, is about a year old and is spayed. She has a very attractive brindle coat and seems to be smiling in her pictures. It was a bit of a challenge to get pictures of her looking into the camera and a video because she was obsessed with exploring our shelter yard. In fact, that is the reason I named her Dora the Explorer! She walks quite nicely on a leash. She did her business as soon as she arrived in the yard. She knows the sit command. When I threw a tennis ball, she bounded after it, picked it up and returned it to me. Dora has a low-key personality and a moderate activity level. She is friendly, but somewhat reserved. She doesn`t seek out attention but was ok with me petting her. But again, her main focus was to sniff out every square inch of the yard. It appears as though she has had a litter. It is obvious from her appearance that Dora has had the misfortune of being a yard dog. She is hoping the people in her new home will allow her the privilege of living inside and become bonded with her person or family like every dog should.
