Meet adoptable Tommy! Fostered in the lower mainland, ready to meet you in person!
UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM:
Tommy is a great pup, he has adjusted really well to life in Canada. He's very good natured, adores people, and is enthusiastically friendly with everyone he meets. He's also house trained and good with cats!
Tommy gravitates towards bigger dogs and gets along well with them. He would love another big dog to play with at his future home. He's also great with my 14 lb terrier who can be a bit defensive. He does need a bit of time to assess new dogs, but he warms up once he recognizes that they're friendly.
Tommy adores my cats and gently tries to play with them. He would be just fine in a home with kitties.
At home, Tommy is super affectionate, loves to be patted and curl up with you on the couch. He will sit quietly and gaze adoringly at you when receiving pats. He has a smooth and shiny coat, and he hardly sheds at all.
Tommy enjoys playtime, outdoor adventures, and daily walks. He gets excited and joyful when the leash comes out for walk time! He loves to run around and this is a great way to provide the exercise he craves. A big fenced yard would be ideal for him. He is still learning leash manners such as not pulling and not barking. Tommy does get very excited around other dogs on our walks. I use distraction and treats when he sees dogs, if he looks like he is going to react too exuberantly to them. It is not aggression, but a strong desire to engage with dogs he sees.
Tommy is a very smart boy, treat motivated, and learns quickly. He picked up house training in no time. He's in the process of learning to feel comfortable in a car. This is something he never experienced before coming to Canada, so we're working on it gradually.
Tommy about 10-11 months old now and weighs 50 lbs. He won't grow much more, we expect he will top out at about 55-60 lbs.
BACKGROUND HISTORY:
Tommy and his siblings were tiny babies when they were rescued in Mexico. Their mom gave birth on the streets and was trying her best to survive while nourishing her pups. Fortunately, they were saved from these dire circumstances and taken into foster care in Guadalajara. While there, the puppies received all necessary vet care including vaccinations and spaying/neutering. You could almost feel their gratitude when they approached with wagging tails, bright eyes and big ol' puppy smiles.
During their time in Mexico, all the pups devleoped social skills and confidence. They showed love for everyone and everything! Tommy, like his siblings, was joyful about his new life in a safe place, with people who loved and protected him.
Tommy is a stunner and will only grow more handsome with each passing day. He's very intelligent, quickly learning skills and commands. He'll have no problem mastering obedience training and combined with his sweet personality, this boy will make any hooman SO happy! His very best friend in Mexico was a three year old girl, so we expect that he'll be just fine in a family with kids.
Tommy's ideal home would be an acreage or farm where he can run around and play the day away. He loves off-leash time! And adventurous, outdoorsy family would be a perfect match!
VETTING:
PLEASE NOTE: Tommy is local in the lower mainland. Meet and greets can be arranged! There is a $235 fee for transportation costs to BC. This will be discussed upon approval.
