My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Life’s magical with Pixie!

Greetings! I’m Pixie, a 11-month-old Shepherd mix, and I’m here to sprinkle a little bit of magic into your life! I may not have wings, but with my playful energy, you’d think I could fly! Originally, I came from the Tootsie litter but was relinquished when the older dog in my first home developed a heart condition. Now, I’m on the hunt for my furever home—a place where I can run, play, and cuddle to my heart's content.

I’m great with other dogs, and I absolutely love to frolic in the water—whether it's the beach or a splash pad, I’m all in! My favorite things include going on long walks or runs, chasing after chew toys, and of course, curling up next to you on the couch.

I have a little bit of puppy magic left in me, which means I can be high-energy when it’s time for fun, but I’m also perfectly content to relax and nap throughout the day. I’m potty trained and doing well on the leash though I could use a little extra guidance there. Sometimes I get a bit anxious when you leave (just a tiny whimper—no big deal!), but I settle down quickly. Oh, and while I adore kids, I’m still mastering the art of not jumping, so a home with older children (10+) would be ideal.

Why adopt me? Because I’m not just any pup—I’m a clever, playful, and incredibly loving companion who’s ready to join you on all of your adventures. I’m a fast learner, and with a little guidance, I’ll become the most enchanting part of your family. If you’re active, enjoy the outdoors, and want a loyal companion who will bring a bit of pixie dust to your life, look no further!

My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
