My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Boonie!

Boonie came into our care when a good Samaritan found her as a stray. No owner has come forth so she is therefore available for adoption to a new home who will keep her safe. We can almost guarantee you, you have not seen a cutier bunny. Boonie is a little timid but once she has people around her and gets used to you, we're sure she will win your heart. She is huge and almost does not look real - she's like a giant stuffed toy. Boonie was quite badly matted but she's since seen a Vet and has had those mats professionally groomed. If you want the cutiest bunny in your life, please speak with the BC SPCA Kelowna Staff to meet her. We're not sure how she would do with another rabbit because she was a stray.

Boonie would be a foster-to-adopt while awaiting her spay surgery and subsequent recovery.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
