My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For The Cats' Sake

Minnow is the sweetest and friendliest of cats, with striking green eyes that seem to sparkle with affection. Her loving nature makes her the perfect companion, always seeking out a warm lap to curl up on. Whether you're reading a book or watching TV, Minnow's gentle purrs and soft fur provide a comforting presence. Her favorite spot is right on your lap, where she can bask in your attention and share her endless love. She is very loved by all of the other cats, as she treats them like her children.

Minnow is especially close to Monet, a male flame point and housemate. (You can see Monet getting some loving licks from Minnow in one of the photos. They would be a lovely pair to adopt together, both of them being calm and affectionate.) Minnow was initially rescued as a kitten from a hoarding situation where there were 20 kittens and many cats! (You can see the photo of Minnow when she was first rescued as a kitten.) Shortly after, she was adopted until sadly her adopter unexpectedly passed away recently. Our group took Minnow and her housemates in, awaiting their furrever homes. Could that be with you?

We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats’ Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation to our group. On average, we spend at least $125 to cover foster care, testing for FeLV and FIV, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming and any vet care/medicine that is needed. We ask that you cover as much of the $125 as you can afford, and set a minimum donation at $50. Our goal is to find the best home for each animal, and we feel this policy makes it possible for more people to adopt one or more cats. It is important to us that every adopter can afford to care for their pets properly and give them a home for life.

More about this rescue

For The Cats' Sake was founded in 2014 in response to a need for TNR in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Since that time, we have encountered many situations where there is no place for the cats to be returned. In other instances the cats are friendly or there are momma cats too pregnant to be spayed, or young kittens that are adoptable, but need socialization and foster care. Currently we have about 40 cats and kittens in foster care being prepared for adoption. All felines are Up to Date on vaccinations and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Depending on age at time of adoption, they are also Spayed/Neutered.
