My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello I'm Rubiks.
I've got some wisdom under my collar being a senior (9 yrs old) and all. Independence is my game, I like my own space, just like a good puzzle. Cats, not so much my thing, but treats? Now we're talking! I'm a simple guy with simple needs. I'm currently experiencing some emotional constraints while residing at the shelter, which is hindering my friends' ability to accurately assess my genuine personality. I'm looking for a retirement home, a place to hang my leash and enjoy the golden years. Why adopt me? Well, I'm a loyal friend, a quiet companion, and I've got a lot of love left to give once I warm up to you. Plus, I promise to make every treat count!

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
