Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Canyon
We love this boy! We rescued Canyon from a high-kill shelter. He is a senior lab/beagle
mix who was on the euth list. An older dog like, Canyon, virtually had no chance to
make it out alive. Once we saw his sweet face we pulled him. No senior dog deserves
to end up scared and alone left to die in a kill shelter.
From the minute we rescued Canyon, he has been a real joy. We think he may be about
nine years old. He is full of life, love and happiness. He’s lived a rough life, but he is so
grateful to be alive. Canyon is a terrific dog. He’ll make for a wonderful and loving
companion for an older couple, a couple less active or a family with kids. He loves
people! Canyon is perfect. He is sweet, affectionate, friendly, even-tempered, and
happy-go-lucky. Canyon doesn’t act his age, but that of a dog much younger. He is very
active and energetic. He can get in and out of a car easily. He settles in and loves
watching the traffic go by. He is so gentle, taking treats and welcoming pets. He loves to
snuggle into your hands for a scratch and reassurance that you’re with him. Canyon
enjoys walking on a leash, playing in a yard or relaxing on a couch.
Canyon is a medium sized boy. He has a beautiful glossy coat with just a little bit of a
frosty face, warm brown eyes and he always looks like he’s smiling. He exudes warmth
and confidence. Canyon likes other dogs. We’ll test him with cats, if needed. If you love
older dogs or simply want a happy, sweet, affectionate and fun pup to be your constant
companion and best friend, Canyon may be exactly who you’re looking for. We think he
is house-trained too – bonus!
If interested in Canyon, please submit a dog application found online at
www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or
email us (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your

check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We
do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their
new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new
homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No Kill shelter. Animals in our care
remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished
rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating
at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
