My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet handsome Rocky has been passed from home to home, and is looking for a stable place to call his own. Once you meet him it's very hard not to love him, and we're confident his family is out there who will feel the same! Since getting to the shelter he's shown what a cuddly little baby he is. He's looking for a home where he can get all the cuddles his heart desires!

Rocky is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm!

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 9/28/24:
Very calm and patient for leashing- he hopped right out of his kennel and only pulled slightly because he was excited to get out of the shelter! He seems to have been holding his pee and poop until we got outside, maybe housetrained! He was very gentle with handling and gentle with taking treats! He was super loose and wiggly. Another volunteer joined me in the play run and he was wagging to greet her into our space. He was very relaxed the whole time we were out. Took pets all over, very sweet and relaxed boy!

Per Staff 9/28/24:Rocky came out for activity time. He came right up to the door with soft eyes and a wagging tail. Once in the eval room he came and greeted the handler with a wagging tail and soft eyes. He is a loosey good boy with a big sweet head. He is a big lovable deaf giant who is a very sweet and cuddly baby. He loves cheese and loves to be pet and play !!

Per Staff 9/27/24:
10+ due to aloof behavior during his eval. He's lived with kids, I just think he would do better with slightly older kids, so they don't bother him when he wants to be left alone. No cats due to owner saying "not friendly" to cats.

Per Staff 9/27/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
Rocky was standing near the door of his kennels hen I approached. He jumped up on the door with soft eyes and a wagging tail to sniff the leash. He got down when I opened the door and was easy to leash. He came right out once secured.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls moderately

HANDLING:
When we first got to the eval room Rocky sniffed around and went potty for a few minutes. He got pretty sexually motivated by some smells in the room, and walked around chin chattering and drooling excessively. I tried to distract him with treats but they weren't interesting enough for him. He would wag his tail and he would look at me with soft eyes for a second when I called him, but wouldn't come up to me and would just go right back to sniffing. He tolerated some all over pets, and gave some wags, but they seemed more like appeasement wags, as he was aloof and kept his nose to the ground, ignoring me. I decided to take him outside to see if getting away from the sexually motivating smells would help. He pulled moderately outside and stopped for lots of sniffs. He was completely focused on sniffing the whole way, and only picked his head up once for a few seconds of body pets. His body remained neutral to loose, but he just did not want to interact with me. I decided to go into an office, to see if there would be less smells in there as well. Unfortunately, Rocky continued to ignore me and just sniff around. He allowed all handling with a neutral body, but just sniffed around and ignored me, quite aloof. Treats and toys were ineffective at distracting him, even in the office. I think he would really like scent based toys or enrichment. It was hard to get a read on him since he was so focused on everything other than me, so I want to get him out again to see how he's doing. When it was time to return to kennel he returned without any issue.
