My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This gorgeous girl is named Mama Luna! She’s a sweet little angel, good on leash and great in her crate, with so much sweetness, softness and affection to her.

We think Mama Luna is a pit bull mix of some sort, around 2 years old. She currently weighs in around 45 pounds, the perfect size for snuggles.

Watch Luna here: https://youtu.be/hMLtXKL3lwg?si=ZU92si9VR3rUsIdQ

Luna is a LOVER, this girl is so friendly and incredibly loyal. She’s very sweet and a perfect office dog, here at the rescue, our staff lets her free roam in their offices while they work! She’s so sweet and gentle that she even does well with our vet staff, allowing care and nail trims with ease. She’s good and quiet in her crate here at the rescue, and getting her out of her crate is always a little dance party for her, full of tail wags, booty wiggles and big kisses.

Luna is dog friendly! However, she has a bit of a complicated relationship with other dogs, she is currently on a healing journey after limited socialization in her younger years. Luna doesn’t bark, lunge, or growl at other dogs when she passes them on leash, she’s great at coexisting with other dogs in play-yards, but direct interaction can sometimes cause her some anxiety, preventing her from playing and causing her to act fearful around the other dogs. To address this, our behavior team is facilitating more healthy interactions with other dogs, by way of integrating her into supervised play groups. In a home, slow introductions are advised, and our behavior team will be available to advise you further!

Luna is great with people. She’s gentle and loving and respectful, and has great house manners. She knows “sit” already, and she’s so food motivated and eager to please, further training will be enjoyable and rewarding! She’s a dream on leash, and an easy dog to take out and about with her sociability and manners. She warms up to new people very quickly, she’s very sweet and trusting. She’s very loyal, as well, once you’ve won her heart she will love you forever. Luna greets “her people” with so much adoration, kissing and cuddling. This precious girl is a huge fan of a couch snuggle, she will lay right on top of your chest, gazing into your eyes and soaking up all of your love.

Mama Luna LOVES squeaky toys too! She’s a very playful and fun girl with so much personality, and the way she plays with squeaky toys shows it! She’s got a quirky playstyle with her toys, she’ll use her nails to dig at them, toss them up in the air, and nibble them.

Luna’s perfect home would have at least one loving human (that doesn’t mind kisses!!) to call her own, a couch for her to snuggle on, and lots of toys to play with. She is quiet, mellow and good in her crate, and could likely thrive in an apartment. Daily walks or a few quick backyard play sessions are all she’ll need to stay happy and healthy.

Mama Luna is such a sweet, beautiful, loyal and intelligent dog. With any questions, please reach out to her adoption coordinator, whose email is linked below. We are willing to test Luna with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
