For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Phoenix is a 1-2 year old Husky mix who was pulled as part of "Angel Retreat's ACCT's of love program. With this program we use funds raised by generous donors to pull dogs from a very high volume, under funded, and under staffed urban kill shelter in our local area. Phoenix was scheduled to be euthanized due to lack of space and his time being up.
Sadly, situations like this happen almost daily due to the severe pet overpopulation problem, as well as the sad reality that people are turning a blind eye to it and are continuing to breed and purchase dogs while thousands of dogs in shelters are dying every single day. If you don't understand, please take a look to any high kill city shelter and see just how many AMAZING dogs are dying every single day, due to no other reason than lack of homes. When adopt from a smaller rescue such as ours, you are still helping save these kinds of dogs by opening up a space at our rescue to be able to pull them and find them a loving home in whatever amount of time it takes.
Phoenix was originally given up to the shelter by his family who decided he was too much work for them...they probably didnt do their research before getting a Husky. He is an amazing gentleman and has loved every person and dog we have had him meet, even including the goats in his foster home! He does not like to be crated, so will need a family who does not crate their dogs. This breed is a high energy and highly intelligent breed that will require a very active family up to the task of providing them the ample physical and mental exercise they require.
If you are interested in being considered for Phoenix please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org
Quick Facts:
-Phoenix is house trained and is an excellent listener - we think he may speak human!
-He is great with kids and has been a model citizen.
-Phoenix loves squeaky toys and can't wait to be your adventure buddy.
