Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Say hello to Kirby!
This happy-go-lucky boy is the quintessential Collie. But let’s read what his Foster Paw has to say about him:
“Kirby has lots of energy and loves to run and play with his current foster brother Dash (another Tri-State graduate) who is now five. Sometimes Dash informs Kirby to "chill out" a bit and Kirby takes the hint. When Dash needs a rest, Kirby runs the fence with the neighbor dog.
Kirby is the ultimate companion dog who will follow you around and literally plop down next to you and just watch what you're up to. He is always interested in keeping track of what is going on in the house or backyard. Because of this trait, his recall is quick and enthusiastic. He is food motivated and easy to work with. He knows sit and down and walks on a leash very well.
Kirby would thrive in a home with children and lots of activity. He is housetrained and crate trained. Throw a few treats into the crate and give the command "crate" will result in him cheerfully going in. A chew toy included in the crate will occupy him. Crating him while people are home, however, will lead to some complaints from Kirby as he won't be able to keep track of the home's going ons. If guests need to be isolated from him for a while, a gated off area will work very well as Kirby will just hang out by the gate and lay down there.
Kirby is affectionate and loves to receive affection and attention. He is learning what items left on the floor are play toys and what items are not (shoes).”
