Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jake is a 1-year-old, 27 lb Retriever mix with a cheerful disposition and a love for belly rubs. Once he gets to know you, he becomes an affectionate companion who enjoys cuddling and interacting with his humans. Jake is intelligent and quick to learn new commands. He’s approximately 90% potty trained, proficient at using a doggy door, and patiently waits while you put on or remove his leash.
Jake enjoys exploring trails and would thrive in an active home where he can continue to experience outdoor adventures. Highly motivated by food and treats, he would excel in a training environment where positive reinforcement is key. While crate trained, he can become bored if left alone for long periods. Jake gets along well with other dogs and is currently learning to navigate interactions with cats—though his playful demeanor means he might need a feline friend that is accustomed to dogs.
Jake is well-versed in commands such as “sit,” “down,” “off,” “wait,” and “leave it,” although he is still refining his understanding of “leave it.” He’s also being introduced to heeling and auto-sitting during walks. Recently, he discovered the joy of toys and is often seen trotting around with a stuffed animal in tow.
At night, Jake prefers to be close to his family, although he settles well in his crate. Jake’s exuberant energy makes him a perfect candidate for a home that can provide him with consistent mental and physical engagement. With his sweet and curious nature, Jake is sure to bring joy and companionship to his forever family.
