My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SPIRIT is a young Rottweiler mix who embodies the essence of his name. Around one year old, weighing 51 pounds, Spirit is a striking vision with his shiny coat of black and tan Rottweiler markings that gleam in the sunlight.

Found as a stray with another dog, they were cared for by kind-hearted workers on a job site. Now this sweet, social adolescent is ready for his forever home. Initially shy, he's now an outgoing, happy boy. In meetings with other pups, Spirit has proven to be dog-friendly..... and loves people!

This outgoing, affectionate boy simply adores human interaction, especially when it involves walks. With his soulful eyes and affectionate nature, SPIRIT is the perfect blend of beauty and brawn, a loving companion.

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
