My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What can we say about Laska? The most honest thing we can say is that she's a fluffy, adorable, oddball!
Tiny Laska was found alone when she was a few days old and weighed 120 grams. She was immediately taken into foster care, put in a nice toasty incubator and bottle fed every few hours day and night. The plan was to let Laska grow, get healthy and place her with a litter of kittens her age so she could learn how to be a cat. The problem... Laska didn't grow! She shrank! Despite having a good appetite and a loud purr, she continued to lose weight over the next 10-days. Thankfully, Laska's fighting spirit, multiple vet visits, consultations and meds finally got Laska on the right track! When she was 5-weeks old, she finally made it out of the incubator and into the company of the other kittens. Laska was totally confused by her newfound friends. While the other kittens played, Laska jumped around chasing her tail. The first night in the playpen with her new friends, Laska escaped and found a nice, quiet cabinet in the kitchen with a hole in the bottom of it and moved in. Every morning when her foster parents came into the kitchen, Laska would pop out of the cabinet and wait patiently at their feet for breakfast. Luckily, Laska is beginning to acclimate to the world outside her incubator and cabinet and has started enjoying playing and cuddling with her kitten friends! She still reminds her foster parents constantly that she is the baby and will run into their arms every chance she gets. She has the loudest purr, softest hair and loves to be cuddled! Laska is a gentle, funny soul and she's absolutely one of a kind. She is eating solid food now, has excellent litterbox manners and uses her scratching post. She has no fear of the large, loud dogs in her foster home and enjoys being around the resident cats. After being alone and isolated for the first 5-weeks of her life, we think that Laska deserves a buddy. An excellent match for her would be her brother Bisous who is an adorable grey tabby with a gentle soul just like Laska. Laska could also be adopted alone as long as the home has a young, playful cat who wouldn't mind taking in a misfit kitten and teaching her the ways of the world. If you would like to meet Laska, please fill out an adoption application for her online at One Love Animal Rescue. She will be spayed, microchipped, have age appropriate vaccines and be ready to join her new home the first week of October.

More about this rescue

The mission of One Love Animal Rescue, Inc. is to help abandoned, neglected, abused and unwanted pets by partnering with shelters, rescue groups and the community to facilitate adoption of these animals into permanent and loving homes.

Our goal is to save one life at a time by promoting local animal shelter adoptions and raising awareness in our community about responsible pet ownership. We strive to highlight the importance of spaying or neutering pets which will aid in the reduction of overpopulation. We believe that appropriate and positive reinforcement training and socialization of these shelter animals will lead to well-adjusted family pets, thereby decreasing the number of abandoned animals in shelters. Our dream is that one day all the shelters will be empty because every pet will have a home.

One Love Animal Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer based organization located in Savannah, Georgia. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations directly benefit the animals entrusted in our care.
