My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Billy the Kid !!
Him and his two brothers are part of our Outlaw Litter. They are some of the sweetest dogs we’ve taken in!! Really amazing dogs. (His brothers are posted separately)
As a rescue we would like to politely request that breeders stop “doodling” everything 😫 These sweet dogs are overbred for profit but end up almost dying in shelters way too often.
Billy is an approx 3 year old, male Basset Hound and Poodle mix. He weighs 43 pounds. He is low, long and solid. He’s foster is a groomer so you can see his adorable hair cut pics vs his natural scruffy look. “Doodles” ARE NOT HYPOALLERGENIC!! This is a common misconception with the doodle craze. They generally have a mixed hair type of both parents.
He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of his adoption. He is thankfully Heartworm negative.
Billy is an awesome family dog. He has a sweet and loving personality. He’s a very good boy. He loves attention. He takes a little time to fully trust you and be comfortable and then he can be a bit clingy and needy lol. He will follow you everywhere after a day or two and loves to sleep in bed with you.
He is fairly easy to have around the house. He still has a few things to learn.
Billy does great with other dogs of all sizes. He has not been fostered with cats so we aren’t sure how he would go. His brother is fine with them so he may be also. He has not been fostered with kids. We think he would do great with them if they are old enough to give him some space the first few days and not treat him like a toy.
He is crate trained but can be whiny in protest of not being beside you. He rides well in the car. He loves walks and does well on the leash. He’s done fabulous with his potty training however, he still needs to be neutered and does lift his leg and mark on things at first. Hopefully this behavior will fade after his neuter. So far we have seen no issues with him sharing food, treats or toys with humans or other dogs.
Billy has a lower to medium energy level so far. He loves to run in the yard and will play with others but isn’t overwhelming with his exercise needs. As long as he gets some exercise each days he’s very relaxed. He mostly loves to cuddle and snuggle.
His foster had this to say about him: “ he’s the best cuddle buddy and will love you so much once he trusts you. He follows me around everywhere”
Overall he’s a really good boy that is ready for his new family to love.
Vet and home checks required.
Located in Hampton VA.
(He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius)
