My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fluffy Tux, or "Fluff", is an adorable DSH black and white tuxedo male born approximately 4/18/2018.

"Are you looking for a fluffy, Tuxedo, total package, sweetheart who is super talkative, has big feet, and makes lots of biscuits? I am your guy!

I was born to a feral mom and one day a caring lady took us to be TNR’d so we would have the best life possible as community kitties. That was around 2022.  Then around August 2024, I wandered into the backyard of my TNR caretaker and meowed my way to life on the inside.

We took it slow and I got used to everything that was new to me. It didn’t take very long and I was comfortable with all the other foster kitties, noises from this thing they call a TV, and even this thing that follows my foster mom around sometimes, they call a vacuum cleaner. I was terrified of my first car ride to the vet, but once I got back to my foster home, I was ok.  I thought sure I was going to die!

I still cry for attention, and to shut me up, I get canned food. What a deal! Then I get to nap in a warm comfy lap, and even play some, as I still get used to being indoors. After two weeks of patience with my foster mom, I no longer want to go outside to feel safe. I have been living completely inside now, and am so content my foster mom says I deserve to have my own fur-ever family.  (Besides, I kept getting in trouble when I would chase the birds in the back yard.  So win-win!)

I have not been around dogs or kids, but pretty sure if they are nice to me and go slow, I can get just as used to them as I did when I moved from outside to inside.

If I could talk, I would tell my foster mom where I have been the last couple of years, but I guess now that doesn’t really matter. What does matter now is that I am the sweetest kitty who loves to ‘talk’ and can now be a handsome, lap-kitty,  charmer rather than a bird chaser!"

Fluff is fully vetted, microchipped, and currently in a foster home. His adoption fee is $105.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our focus is to place animals in loving, permanent homes where they will be cared for responsibly. Potential adopters or fosters are screened, up to and including home visits. We reserve the right to refuse placement of an animal for any reason. We thank you for understanding.

Adopters must be 21 years or older and willing to invest the time and money required to care for a pet. In addition to providing love and attention, regular medical care is required. Please ask if you would like more information about veterinary fees and costs.

Our animals come from a variety of situations. Some have been dumped at shelters or vets, and many are ill or malnourished when rescued. Although the animal has been in a protected environment, there is the possibility of unrecognized illness appearing after an adoption is finalized, especially because of the stress the animal may experience during the first few days at its new home. We advise adopters of the animal's known history and provide its veterinary records, but frequently we know only what the animal chooses to tell us. We cannot make any guarantee regarding the long-term health of any animal. Adoption fees are generally not refundable unless prior arrangements are made.

If you feel that you are ready to adopt, please e-mail adoptions@nbcrtx.org for prompt attention. A NBCR adoption counselor will contact you to arrange an interview.
