My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue

www.cairnrescue.com

My, what energy! Gonzo: AKA Little One, AKA LowKey, AKA Loki, AKA Hey stop that,AKA Nopee, AKA Gonzo the Magnificent! Gonzo is very high energy but not out of control. He absolutely loves to play with anyone and anything at anytime in any place. He loves games and playtime of any sort and that includes humans. Fetch is one of his newfound joys. He is a hardy eater and is gaining some much needed weight since finally being off the rough and tumble streets of Milwaukee. Being the young puppy he is, Gonzo loves to play with all the dogs staying here with us. Sometimes he tires them out. Sometimes they just don’t want to play and he is learning boundaries still. The training we had been working on is moving along but he definitely requires more time on the leash. Gonzo loves the very sight of someone picking up a leash as he knows it leads to a new adventure someplace different. Even if it is just around the neighborhood to check his “pee mail.” Gonzo is very eager to be part of the action and even when he is in a “hyper puppy state” or in the middle of Zoomies, which by the way he is rather adept at, I can call him to me and just as soon as I pick him up or give him gentle belly rubs and ear scruffs, he is calm and submissive and ready for cuddles. Besides, Any human willing to give Gonzo attention, can’t be all that bad.

**** FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! ****

YOU can make a huge difference by fostering just one dog. ONE dog, ONE time a year = ONE life that could be saved! Each and everyday we have the opportunity to save more Cairns in need, but we can't do it if we don't have the Foster Homes to place them in. Would you like to learn more on how you can help?

'Saving just one dog won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog.'

More about this rescue

We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a national network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need.
We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between.

Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairn's life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairn's personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.

At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.
