My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gulliver is a 3-month-old, happy snuggle bug looking for his forever home!

This lovely pumpkin is a very sweet and friendly guy! It took a little bit of time for him to warm up, but once he did, he wanted to hang out with his humans and give cuddles all the time. He likes to give kisses and will run back and forth between humans to make sure everybody is getting equal amounts of love.

Gulliver loves to play and is a big fan of any and all toys. His favorite is probably the feather on a stick, and he also likes to wrestle with the other cats in his foster home. When he's done, he likes to bird watch or catch a nap on the cat tree. He’s an expert at the litter box like a champ, too!

Gulliver has plenty of kitten energy and would love a home where he can get quality play time with his humans, as well as with another active animal companion. He currently lives in a house in the suburbs with two adult humans and lots of other cats. He gets along well with everyone!

Gulliver would thrive where he could get lots of cuddles and attention from humans who work from home or are around a lot; he would especially love it if his new family members let him join them in their bed at night. Gulliver will also need to go to a home that has an animal friend to keep him company and show him how to be the best cat he can be.

Gulliver does very well with other cats! Because Gulliver is under 6 months old, Pet Haven requires that he goes to a home that has another young kitty friend for him to grow up with! He hasn't met any dogs or kids yet but would probably love to be their friend.

This super-sweet orange boy is so excited to meet you and share his affectionate, energetic purrrsonality.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
