My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the cutest and most playful 4-5 month old kittens, Trapper Keeper and Birdie! These two girls will be looking for a forever family that wants nothing more than to have TWO adorable, playful, silly kittens to add a little fun to their home.

Trapper Keeper is a medium-hair brown tabby with the fluffiest tail; she is about 4 months old. Keeper’s bright yellow eyes, softest silky hair, along with the cutest tufts of hair coming out of her tiny ears truly make her the cutest kitten out there! She is a lover and enjoys getting on the couch with her humans, laying on the softest blankets, and snuggling on her human’s lap while they work from home.

She’s your built-in shadow; if you are in the kitchen, she will be right there with you, at your feet reminding you it is most likely dinnertime or close to it! She meows like a fierce lion, and it includes a cute nose wrinkle! Throughout the day you will find her playing with her pal, they love to chase after each other, play in tunnels, chase their toys, and wrestle.

Birdie is a gorgeous tabico; she is STUNNING! Her face mask is perfect! Birdie is approximately 5 months old, very friendly and outgoing. She loves it when you pet her head and tell her she is such a good girl!

She loves playtime with a fun wand toy, a tunnel, ping pong balls and will capture all annoying flies in the house! She is a very active girl and spends the day discovering new toys in the toy box and enticing her pal to play as much as she can. She too is a shadow; if you enter a room and close the door, she will wait patiently for you to open it back up!

After a day filled with playtime, Birdie is the first in bed, ready to snuggle next to her humans for a good night’s rest.

These best friends haven’t been around young children; however, I do believe they would do well with kids 10 and over. They currently live with a chill dog and a resident cat.

If you are looking for two sweet and active girls who will give you a lifetime of love, laughter, and companionship, please put in an application for these cuties!

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
