Nola came to us as a stray from a high kill animal control agency. She was unable to walk and had a cataract on her left eye, matted and dirty, she was in tough shape. After thorough vetting, it was found that she had some prior trauma injury that healed and left some neurological damage and arthritis in her hips. She was on pain meds for a month, but is now off them completely and doing just fine, just needs walking to strengthen her back legs. A visit to the veterinary opththomologist delevered a not so good prognosis, she is totally blind in her left eye, caused by progressive retinal atrophy, which cannot be reversed, and she will need drops in that eye for the rest of her life. She also has PRA in her right eye, which means that she will go blind in that eye eventually, a matter of years, but is taking Ocuvite to preserve her vision for as long as possible.
Despite her physical issues, Nola is the best companion you will ever have!! She is happy, social, loves everyone she meets, human or animal, sticks to you like glue wherever you go, and if you sit, she will be in your lap loving you up with kisses. She is only 6 years young, so has a long life ahead of her, and she would love to spend it with you! She is house trained, and would love to share your bed at night.
Nola can join your family if you live within a 30 mile radius of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Her adoption fee is $300.
