Olaf is a spunky little guy (10 pounds), that had a difficult start to his life. He had one of his eye removed because of lack of medical care. He does not let having only one eye slow him down. He can do all the things that other dogs can do. Because he is pretty shy and skittish around new people, he should go to a home without small children. He would love to find a family that will help him gain confidence, and experience life to the fullest. He loves to play with toys, and does not mind playing by himself. He also likes playing with washcloths, and carrying them around in his mouth.
Olaf would benefit from another dog in the house to help him feel safe. He is crate trained, but shares a crate with his best friend Maya Baloo. If he is in the crate by himself, he gets too anxious. He is working hard on potty training, and will go potty outside given the chance. He has learned how to eat out of a food dish, but needs his space while eating otherwise he gets spooked and runs away. Olaf is a gentle little guy, and will approach his foster parents when he is feeling safe for pets. He really wants to be near his foster parents, but gets nervous. When he is feeling especially brave, he will approach his foster parents with a goofy smile on his face. Olaf does well with the other dogs in the house, and makes attempts to play with them. He is still learning how to interact with other dogs, so his version of playing with other dogs is to try run around with the other dogs while they play with each other.
Olaf’s ideal home would be with a family that is home a lot, with another dog or two. He does well when humans give him space and let him come to them. He does like to snuggle in bed, but gets scared if there are sudden movements. Olaf is skittish, and would need a family that is patient with him when he runs from them when it time to go outside or be carried upstairs when it is bedtime.
Olaf is neutered and up to date on his shots. He was a hit at the vet’s office when he got his eye removal stiches taken out. Because of having only one eye, the vet technician thought he resembles a tired old man trying to nap.
