My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 06/04/2022) Are you looking for a super soft, super cuddly, pretty girl? Then Sheba is for you! This wonderfully sweet pup loves to snuggle up next to you on the couch while you stroke her beautiful, soft coat. But be prepared, if you stop petting her, she will nudge you for more attention by pawing at you! And we hope you don't mind an extra, little shadow because she will follow you everywhere you go.

She is very playful and would prefer a fenced yard where she can run around and release some of that energy, but would do well without a fence as long as she gets in enough walks. She will pull on the leash, but not too terribly bad, unless, of course, she sees a squirrel! Pretty sure she thinks they must be one of her stuffed animals that has somehow escaped and must need catching!

She loves other dogs! So her best fur-ever family would have a fun, sweet, and playful 4-legged sibling she could become besties with; she'd love it! Another dog in the home isn't an absolute requirement as long as she got lots of love, attention, and playtime with her people and had doggie friends she could walk with and play with in her neighborhood or visit daily.

Sheba can be shy around some new people and will need time and patience to allow her some time to warm up this is especially true in her new home and she will need time to adjust to her new place and then when new people come in. Treats, time, and not rushing her will be what it takes for Sheba to feel safe and come out of her little shell. Once that happens, expect nothing short of an absolute love bug. She is eager to please and easily redirect. She is crate trained and does well out of the crate (short of maybe a flip flop or two left easily accessible that happened to look like a cute new toy) with a little supervision still.

She is also not the best co-pilot as cars are a new creature to her (what in the world is that big thing anyway??). She isn't going to just bump you out of the way and jump in the car super excited to go for a ride. So expect to give her a hoist and put her in until she gets used to this wild-4-wheel-machine. Once in the car she is well behaved.

She has a beautiful coat, gorgeous markings, and wonderful ears! She is definitely a head turner and striking and a bit unique. We aren't really sure what kind of hound(s) she is mix of or with, all we know is she is just beautiful!

Again, Sheba loves doggies!! Another dog in ther family would also help with her confidence and growing into a very happy and well adjusted girl. She hasn't had an opportunity to meet kids or kitties. With her interest in chasing squirrels and other little critters, cats in the home may not be her jam.

Sheba will make someone a great companion as she is very devoted to her people and has lots of love and kisses to give. She'd love to find her way into your heart, home and bed and to give you all the happy kisses a girl could give. Don't skip a chance to meet Sheba!

As part of Sheba’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sheba, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
