Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Banana Split is a pretty silly name yet fitting for this silly boy.
Banana Split was trapped about a month ago by GSDR after spotted and avoiding capture for at least a week. He was then held with Londonderry Animal Control with no success in locating an owner. Assumptions were made that he was discarded by his previous family, and that may be true, but we will never know his full story.
When I was asked to take this dog, I was prepped that he wasn't so keen on them. I honestly didn't know what to expect. But when the officer opened up the back hatch of the Animal Control van, I was met with a dog who greeted me like we were long lost friends. An initial moment of hesitation, followed by a long stream of toe tapping, full body wagging joy. Both the officers and I were surprised to say the least.
Banana Split is a lively guy. He's looking for an adult home, though he does like all of us here at the shelter, he may have some reservations about some people, and will need an adult only home to continue to teach him that he doesn't have to be afraid of new people.
Banana Split could potentially live with another dog. He and Leslie are friends. Leslie finds him mildly annoying, so a dog that enjoys some rough housing would be ideal. We don't know how he feels about cats, but could potentially live with them after a slow introduction.
Banana Split does know some basic commands, plays fetch like a champion (drops it in your lap --- rockstar) and is an epic snuggle buddy. We aren't sure why Banana Split's last family didn't want him, because there is the making of a great pet in this boy.
