Mitty is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!
We rescued Mitty from Chicago Animal Care and Control after seeing her precious little pouty face looking so sad in the cage! We could not leave her behind. Lucky Mitty has a great foster home where she lives with two dogs, a cat, and two young children.
Her foster mom says, "Mitty the Pittie has really come a long way in such a short time. The first few days, she was very shut down and would sit in the corner looking very sad. She has blossomed in her couple of weeks here and is starting to get more adventurous.
With two small children, aged 2 and 6, two dogs and a cat, our household isn't the quietest. Mitty enjoys the activity and being around other people and animals.
Though she hasn't played with our animals much, she definitely enjoys their company and almost seems more comfortable in the backyard when they are out there. I feel in time they would start to interact more and play.
Mitty is very well behaved, and we do not have to worry about her making a mess or getting into things. She hasn't chewed much, but when she does, she is easily redirected with a benebone. I also haven't heard her bark or growl once since she's been here.
Mitty the Pittie is the perfect size and will curl up right next to you for a movie or for bed. She is a great girl who is deserving of the best home!"
Mitty is still a puppy so will need a patient adopter who is willing to work through housebreaking, crate training (both things she is doing well with!), puppy mouthiness, etc.
Mitty's adoption fee is $400. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
