My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pork N Beans is a loveable guy who enjoys napping, getting belly rubs, and playing with his toys. He's looking for a foster home where he can relax, enjoy playtime, and get the TLC he deserves. He is very curious and loves to watch his friends walk by! He can't wait until he is feeling better and can run around and play with his buddies.

Reason for Foster: Heartworm +, Luxating Patella, and Upper Respiratory Infection

Foster Time Frame: 3 Weeks

Foster Care Plan: Pork N Beans is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease, but don't worry - he's asymptomatic and is still full of his fun personality. Once he is ready to begin his heartworm treatments, it will be important for his foster to keep him as calm as possible to avoid an elevated heart rate. His bloodwork is being monitored for elevated liver values. He is also being monitored for a suspected luxating patella (aka dislocated kneecap) to determine if surgery is needed. He will go home with medication and will have a check in with the vet in 2 weeks. We will provide a medical consultation at his pickup appointment, so you are ready to take amazing care of this sweet boy!

Pork N' Beans is also being treated for an upper respiratory infection which is similar to a cold. He is likely contagious and will need to be kept separate from other dogs in the home until he has fully recovered. He will have a recheck in 2 weeks to clear.

Foster to Adopt: Pork N Beans is available through our Foster to Adopt program, which allows pets awaiting or undergoing medical treatment to be placed with prospective adopters before they are made available for adoption.
