Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ABOUT BARKLEY
This handsome good boy is our 6-month-old pup, Barkley! He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in West Virginia when they no longer had space for him. Barkley is a social, smart guy who loves life. He has already mastered basic commands and walks well on a leash. He is super food and toy-motivated, making the learning possibilities endless! When he's not enjoying an afternoon stroll with our volunteers, you can usually find him bouncing around our fenced fields with his doggy friends! After some exercise or playtime, he can't wait to climb in your lap and embrace all the snuggles you have to offer. Based on his loving, tolerant personality, we think Barkley would do well in a home with children!
One of our volunteers took Barkley for a Doggy Day Out and here's what they had to say: "Barkley was fantastic! He was so outgoing and so happy and energetic the entire time I had him out of the shelter. He didn't show any hesitation getting in and out of a car, though he did need a little bit of boost for his back legs, but he was ready to go! Barkley met so many new human friends and he made sure to try and make dog friends with every new dog we encountered during our day out as well! Barkley did try to interrupt a game of cornhole when he tried to snatch a bean bag out of the air but he was quick to hand it over when we traded him for a treat. He also rolled over for lots of belly rubs with pretty much every stranger he could find. He was a total ham the entire day and one of the most outgoing and friendly dogs I've ever met!"
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
