My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet girl Ophelia has been under the care of a kind person who found her on the streets about a month ago. They are unable to keep her so they brought her to ACCT to find the perfect family! She's a gorgeous, laid back brindle lady who lived with children in her temporary home. She would love to meet you today!

Ophelia is eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet her at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her.

Behavior notes --
Per day trip volunteer 9/29:
We took Ophelia on a day trip and she was great! She loved cheese and peanut butter treats. She was very gentle with taking treats and loved pets. She pulled on the leash but was otherwise very easy to walk. She would make a great addition to a family!!

Per volunteer on 9/27: Ophelia is so happy to see you and go out. Full body wiggles in the kennel and she leans against the bars. She also appears to try to be staying house trained. Once we were in the dog run she kind of did her own thing and explored. No real interest in eating the treats I had or playing. We did a short walk and it did seem to tire her out, so right now she appears to be on the lower energy side - a good couch buddy! Once I sat down, she did come over and solicit attention, putting her paw on my thigh and leaning in her head pets. She's not a fan of returning to her kennel but I was assured by a KA and Ophelia was just fine being lifted.

Per staff on 9/26:
BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
KNOWN HISTORY: Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION: Ophelia was wiggly near the door of the kennels with soft eyes and was very bouncy! She was easy to leash and exited without any issues. When returning to kennel she needed to be lifted in!
LEASH SKILLS: Pulled moderately
HANDLING: In the room Ophelia was so wiggly and social. She was very bouncy and solicited attention in the room often, leaping into our laps and soliciting attention. She took treats gently but could be a bit snatchy at times when too excited. She allowed all over handling without any issues including her belly, face, paws, and even let me check her teeth! She can lack manners at times and get quite jumpy, so she would use some help with training.
PLAY: Engaged in play
TOYS: Released willingly
