COLTON NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Colton Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/Malinois Mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of March 2024 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 49 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! He also passed a shelter cat test, which is a good indication that he could live with a cat. Due to his shyness, we would be cautious placing Colton in a home with children under the age of 12.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home.

Special adoption considerations: Because Colton is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Colton in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Colton is Looking For: His forever home! Colton wants nothing more than to trot through the world with all the confidence of a well-loved dog. He is eager to burn off all that awesome young-dog energy with romps in parks, long sniffy walks, and all the adventures his humans can dream up. Thing is, he hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and right now he's shy. He needs extra loving and patient adopters who will help him explore at his pace, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog.
Most of all, though, he wants to know where he belongs - and to be safe and loved under his own roof. In exchange, he promises to give adoring gazes, to make his humans laugh, and to be a loyal companion for all his days.
What do you say? Does Colton get to spend his life with you?
What My Foster Says About Me: Colton is a really funny and silly dog. He absolutely loves to play and enjoys running around. Once Colton gets to know other dogs, he loves being 'one of the dogs' and thrives in the companionship of other dogs. Just like with dogs, Colton needs a little bit of time to warm up to people before feeling comfortable, but eases in quickly. He has learned to sit, crate, and if you pat your chest and say 'Colton hug' he will jump up and wrap his arm around your neck. Love it! He has excellent house manners and will ask to go out if he needs to.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
