LUKE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Luke Best Guess for Breed: Retriever and pointer mix
Best Guess for Age: 9 months as of November 2024 SEX: Male
Estimated Weight: 30 lbs as of 9/4/24; he is still growing.
Gets Along With: Dogs! We haven't seen him with cats yet but he can be tested. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.
Currently Living at: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!
Special Adoption Considerations: Luke needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Luke is Looking For: His forever home! This boy is barely out of puppyhood and has all that awesome young-dog energy he'd like to burn playing with his humans, exploring his new neighborhood, and making new pup pals at the local parks. Exploring all the toys would be great too, as well as quality kibble and a cushy dog bed, and going to dog school to show how super smart he is.
What My Foster Says About Me: Luke has a sweet disposition and a gentle curiosity; he greets everyone with lots of kisses! He is timid but just need a little time to warm up to his environment. He does great on walks around the park and enjoys playing with toys in and out of his crate. He's been great with our resident dog and neighbor dog! He also enjoys playing with other dogs at the park- including playing tug of war. He is really great at matching the energy of the foster’s dog.
Luke loves to learn and train, and picks things up quickly - he knows to sit before crossing a street and is currently working on “down”. He does well in his crate and has made amazing progress with potty training!
He went hiking last weekend and loved it! I think fall is definitely his favorite season. He has also learned that squirrels exist, live in trees, and he cannot climb trees but is willing to try!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
