My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

DOLLY and her sister DeeDee was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.    We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue.

We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page.

Dolly is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. S he have an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and on 22 September weighed  50  pounds.  We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind.

The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually:

Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.

Kennel visit - 5 September
Very nervous and scared didn't get off the bed when doing meet and greet. Laid on bed the whole time.

We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life.

DOLLY is available for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopted with her sister DeeDee the adoption fee is $1,000 for both girls.

Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend.

Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.

More about this rescue

Founded by Jenny an English woman who found her way to Texas on 14th February 2011 in San Antonio, Texas we saved dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas.

In July 2015, Jenny relocated herself and the rescue to the beautiful state of Maine, it's weather and people much like that of her home in Northern England.

We still save dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas where dogs have just 3 days to be saved. We vet them, they have veterinary examination and are issued with health certificates and then transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine.
