My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

SHELBY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue.

We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page.

Shelby is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of February 2024 and on 20th September weighed around 40 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind.

The shelter noted on 27 August during playgroup:

A bit timid initially, but started easing into things and coming out of her shell. She was a bit more people oriented at this time, seeking attention more from the handlers instead of the other dogs. She would start to socialize with the other dogs more once getting accustomed to things.

We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life.

SHELBY is available for an adoption fee of $550

Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend.

Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.

More about this rescue

Founded by Jenny an English woman who found her way to Texas on 14th February 2011 in San Antonio, Texas we saved dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas.

In July 2015, Jenny relocated herself and the rescue to the beautiful state of Maine, it's weather and people much like that of her home in Northern England.

We still save dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas where dogs have just 3 days to be saved. We vet them, they have veterinary examination and are issued with health certificates and then transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine.
