My story

Pongo is being fostered in the St. Louis, MO area.

Pongo is a 2 year old male Australian Shepherd with striking blue eyes. His date of birth is 2/24/2022, he is an AKC registered Aussie with genetic testing on both parents. He arrived into rescue when his former owners were moving and decided he was not going to join them. This big boy is super friendly and loves meeting new people; always eager to say hello.

Pongo excels at recall and is a pro on the leash, making him an ideal running partner or outdoor adventure buddy. When it's time to releax, he's a sweet boy willing to snuggle up for some quiet time. Pongo has the energy for fun and the heart for loyalty making him the perfect mix for anyone looking to add a new member to their active lifestyle.

While Pongo is very friendly, he is still working on not jumping on folks when he's greeting people. For this reason, he would do best with an adopter who is willing to continue this training. Because of his size, he also would be best in a home with children over 10 years of age. NO CATS for this guy as he finds them too fun to chase.

Pongo is ready to find his forever home so don't wait. This guy will not last long as he is near perfect. Pongo does require an active adopter who is willing to provide 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation, as required for any young aussie.

Pongo is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm purchase for any prior or current pets is required to adopt from our rescue.

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
