My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bingo was thrown out in a Walmart sack along with his three siblings. His three siblings have already found their families and forever homes. This sweet baby boy is still looking for his perfect home and family.

A perfect home for him would understand puppies are a work in progress. Another dog in the house would be a plus to help show him the ropes. He's pretty calm with his foster four-year-old grandchild, so children are welcome in his new home. He is fine with his foster cat, too.

Bingo plays well with his foster's other three foster dogs, a one-year-old dog, and two 12-week-old foster pups. He wants to be friends with his foster's grumpy dog, but, well, she's grumpy. He obeys when she says "git"! He has shown no aggression with any of her animals. He shares his toys by constantly playing keep away. He shares his food, too.

He is one of the first in the crate when bedtime comes. He runs in and calls to the others to join. They might tussle a bit, and then he sleeps all night with no problem. He is not house-trained, but he recently was able to keep his crate clean overnight. He found the doggie door in his foster home the first day he was there.

He is an excellent napper and enjoys a good nap with his foster. He doesn't try to play or wriggle away. It's back down, belly up, dream, snore.

Bingo is a calm, easy-to-handle guy. His energy level is medium, but he is still young, so he may be more active as he gets older. Like all puppies, he is learning and growing daily!

The adoption fee also includes the transport fee.

ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are experienced dog owners and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.

PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?

Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
