My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~Sunshine ~3-4 years ~57 lbs. ~Pit bull ~Kern Shelter (?) She appears slightly fearful and hesitant towards dogs her size or larger. In my experience, when she was around larger dogs she did not growl at them but definitely barked as if to protect her space (while also wagging her tail). It is my belief that if she spent supervised time with a particular dog that was her size or larger that eventually she would get along with them. ~I do not believe Sunshine would be good with cats because she is extremely interested in squirrels. But I have not tested her with cats. ~Sunshine did well with children aged 2, 10, and 14. ~Completely housebroken and uses a doggie door. ~Sunshine pulls on leash (especially at first) but responds well with correction. ~Crate trained and is very comfortable in crate. ~Sunshine is social and very much enjoys people. She is playful and silly but calm when inside. ~Normal shedding. ~Normal barking (only when she hears an unusual noise or when my other dog barks but definitely not excessively). ~Sunshine is great in car. She is quiet and rides well in crate. ~No food guarding. She does eat rather quickly so I purchased a slow feeding bowl for her. ~No known medical issues. ~Sunshine would do well in a home with a family, a single person, or an older person. She is very calm inside a home. I believe it would be advantageous for Sunshine to have another dog in the home. It would be beneficial for Sunshine to have a yard where she could run because she really enjoys that. At the very least she would need some physical activity because she is young. I have enjoyed fostering Sunshine. She is a joyful dog and whomever adopts her will be very lucky! Just a few notes….it was obvious to me that she had never spent time in a home. She was extremely hesitant to come in the house for many weeks. She also did not venture anywhere but the living room and kitchen because she was terrified to go anywhere else in the house. She has now become extremely comfortable being in a home. She is very loving and lovable, once she gets to know you, and she loves to lay next to you with her head in your lap. She loves soft squeaky toys. She has learned the sit command and is very treat motivated so I’m positive she could be very easily trained in other commands as well. She also did great at the groomers-they all loved her there!
