My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Emerald, a gentle soul looking for a quiet forever home. This very sweet cat can be a bit shy at first in a new environment and takes time to adjust, but once she does, you'll discover a loyal companion with a heart full of love who wants lots pets and attention. She will shower you with affection. Emerald enjoys finding cozy nooks to relax in and will often curl up nearby once she feels safe.

If you have a patient heart and a tranquil environment, Emerald would thrive as your loyal friend. Open your home to her, and you'll be rewarded with her unique charm and quiet affection! She would do best in a quiet home with no small children. She is used to living with other cats and may be able to get used to a new feline companion or other animal after a slow and careful introduction.
*EMERALD IS CURRENTLY AWAITING A DENTAL SURGERY TO CLEAN HER TEETH. She is not able to officially be adopted yet but local adopters may have the option of doing foster to adopt.
A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting this animal.

If you are interested in adopting, you can come into the shelter during public viewing hours (1-4pm Tuesday to Saturday) or apply online at the link below.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
